abstract
abstract
An adult female of the argulid branchiuran Argulus coregoni Thorell, 1864 was collected from the body surface of a yamato charr, Salvelinus leucomaenis japonicus Oshima, 1961, in the Kesa-zawa Stream, a tributary of the Ina River within the Kiso River system, at an altitude of 1075 m in Ookuwa Village, Nagano Prefecture, Honshu, central Japan. This collection represents the highest altitude record for the natural distribution of A. coregoni in Japan. This paper also compiles the past records of fish parasites collected in high-altitude water bodies of Japan: the lernaeopodid copepod Salmincola carpionis (Krøyer, 1837) and the rahbdochonid nematode Rhabdochona oncorhychi (Fujita, 1921) have been recorded from salmonids at an altitude of 1500 m.
