Peace education is considered to have entered a transitional period in the post-war era in the 2000s. In order to reconstruct peace education during this transitional period without stagnation, it is necessary to promote academic empirical verification. The purpose of this paper is to identify trends and research findings in peace education research with regard to the period since the 2000s, when its initiatives have expanded. This paper focuses on a review of articles and books on peace education research from 2000 to 2022. This paper examines research findings that address the following research questions in peace education research. (1) Curriculum development in accordance with children's developmental stages, (2) Reactivation of war memories, (3) Methods of communicating the horrors of war to children, (4) Development of peace builders, (5) Building peaceful and just social and international relations, and (6) Research through empirical verification. Furthermore, this paper examines research findings in response to transformation in a rapidly changing society. These include comparative educational research in globalization, research in response to information technology, and research in cooperation with local communities. Finally, this paper summarizes the findings and challenges of this research.
