Abstract
Specimens of Actinocleidus fergusoni Mizelle, 1938 were collected from the gills of bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus) from Budo Reservoir, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. This collection represents the first record of A. fergusoni from Japan. The species is redescribed based on both the specimens from Japan and paratype material from the U.S.A. The parasite is considered to have been introduced from the central U.S.A. into Japan with live bluegill in 1960.
