| Abstract |
This study aims at investigating the effect of the independent daily skill of the school age children with disabilities on their main caregivers' time use during long vacations. The children's independent daily skill was classified into two types: Group L (below average) and Group H (above average). Compared with the findings of Survey on Time Use and Leisure Activities conducted by the Statistics Bureau of Japan, the caregivers of this study spent less time on paid work and leisure and more time on housework and travel. Comparison of the time use of Group L with Group H confirmed that the time use and strain on their childcare were larger as well as severer on the part of the caregivers in group L.
